Nkwa Health
The AI-native health platform for African clinics — the AI drafts, a named clinician decides.
What it is
Nkwa Health turns paper assessments into clinician-approved reports and wellness plans, and runs the clinic day around them. It was built inside the daily reality of a Ghanaian clinic — the network that drops, the phone in every hand — not in an office far from one. “Nkwa” is Twi for life.
Two product lines share one foundation: the wellness line — assessments, plan builder, cohorts — live in pilot in Accra, and Nkwa OS, the API-first hospital-operations line now in build: records, the pharmacy and medication journey, supplies and procurement with real approvals, billing and claims, and a finance area that talks to the accounting software a facility already uses.
Nkwa OS is built to be configured, not customised. Each facility sets its own country and regulatory profile, its approvers and sign-offs, its clinical thresholds — so a clinic in Kenya never inherits Ghana’s rules. And because no small team can hand-hold a continent, the help system and the assistant trained on its guides ship with the product rather than after it.
The safety rule is absolute: the AI drafts, and a named clinician decides. Nkwa Health is decision-support and wellness software — it is not a medical device and it does not diagnose.
What we built
Wellness line — live in pilot
Paper-to-data assessments, clinician-reviewed reports, a plan builder and cohort tools, in use at a working clinic in Accra.
Nkwa OS — in build
The hospital-operations line: registration, records, pharmacy and stock, procurement approvals, billing, claims and finance — API-first, and configurable per facility.
Offline-tolerant by design
Built for the conditions African clinics actually run in, not the conditions a demo assumes.
